Gore election we&#8217;ve referred to &#8220;Red States&#8221; and &#8220;Blue States&#8221;. The states in question of course aren&#8217;t monolithically &#8220;Red&#8221; or &#8220;Blue&#8221; but the color describes the dominant culture of the population of those states.
